The upcoming season of the cash-rich Indian Premier League (IPL) is scheduled to commence on March 23 and as per the recent reports, the whole season will be played in India despite the fact that it will clash with 2019 general elections. However, the date of the final hasn’t been decided yet. The venues had been the subject of speculation given that the dates clash with the general elections, which are expected to take place in April-May.
In a press release, the CoA said, “Based on the preliminary discussions with the appropriate central and state agencies/authorities, it was decided that the 12th edition of the world’s most popular and competitive T20 tournament will be scheduled to be played in India. It is proposed that the VIVO IPL 2019 will commence on March 23, 2019. The detailed schedule will be finalized in consultation with the appropriate authorities.”

According to the reports of Cricbuzz understands that the tournament may not be played on the usual home-away basis, and will take place in a ‘caravan format’ depending on the election dates which are yet to be released. It has also been suggested that once the election dates are released, the venues and dates of the IPL matches will be finalized.
“The CoA will have detailed discussion with all the Stakeholders before releasing the IPL 2019 schedule,” the BCCI release further added.
As per the quoted in CricketNext, the BCCI acting secretary Amitabh Choudhary had met home secretary Rajiv Gauba and put forth the board’s plans to organizing IPL-12. A senior BCCI official said, “The board official, as well as the home secretary, agreed on the fact that the tournament needs to stay in India. We put forth our proposal and Mr. Gauba completely agreed with it.”
