In last one year or so, the young Indian wicket-keeper, Rishabh Pant has emerged as the future of Indian cricket. He has proved his worth on the international stage by scoring centuries in England and Australia. Even in the IPL, the wicketkeeper-batsman piled up 684 runs last season and ended up as the second highest run scorer after Kane Williamson.

However, in the current scenario, Pant can’t be termed as a good prospect for India’s future in the limited-overs format considering lackluster performances in recent times. His wicketkeeping abilities have been immensely criticized. But he has shown a glimpse of improvement in that department.

He can be expected to fill the big shoes of MS Dhoni in the future. But the youngster has a lot of hard work to do. Pant also inspires much confidence from his skipper Virat Kohli.

Kohli has often been seen displaying his emotions on the field and likes to be really aggressive. In a video posted by Delhi Capitals, Pant stated that if there was something he was scared of, it was Kohli’s anger.

However, Rishabh mentioned that it was for his own good so that he doesn’t repeat those mistakes again.

During the video, Pant said,

“I am not scared of anyone but Virat bhaiya ke gusse se dar lagta hai (I’m scared of Virat Kohli’s anger). But if you are doing everything correctly, then why he (Kohli) should get angry. But if you make a mistake and someone gets angry with you… it’s good because you only learn from your mistakes.”

After ending up at the bottom of the points table. Delhi Capitals will be looking forward to witnessing some change in their fortunes. The franchise boasts of a great Indian batting core comprising of Shikhar Dhawan, Prithvi Shaw, and Shreyas Iyer also in the mix.

Pant knows that a good performance in the initial stages would be crucial not only for Delhi, but also help him book his spot in the World Cup squad.
