Kings XI Punjab is the most inconsistent team in the history of the Indian Premier League. Apart from making it the finals in 2014, they have never pulled something miraculous in IPL. However, in IPL 2018, they roped in for several big buys during the auction and formed the best team they have ever had. Chris Gayle, KL Rahul, David Miller, Ravichandran Ashwin, Mujeeb Ur Rahman, and Andrew Tye – the team was solid and papers and their performance at the start of IPL 2018 was remarkable.
But they lost the momentum during the second half of the league matches and went on to lose their position in the playoffs, which was looking confirmed at one point. Despite covering all the areas, Punjab seemed to miss one link, which can help the team in rising from the Ashes. They were short of an X factor, which can inspire the whole team during the lows. Will there be one this year?
Mujeeb Ur Rahman
Young Mujeeb Ur Rahman was the biggest success story during last year’s IPL. He made his IPL debut at an early age of 17 and played in 11 matches for Punjab throughout the season. He was seen opening the bowling lineup and gave his team immediate breakthroughs. He managed 14 wickets in the matches he played and conceded runs at an economy of 6.99. This will tell you the importance of Mujeeb in Punjab ranks.

Being a spinner, he was supposed to bring more wickets for Punjab, which he failed to do. In 60 T20 matches that he has played so far, he managed just 63 wickets while conceding runs at 6.70. This shows how well he bowls during the power play, but KXIP would love if he provides more wickets with his ball and become an X factor for his franchise.
