Rajasthan Royals, the inaugural champions of the IPL, made a strong comeback in the previous year of IPL after serving a two-year suspension. They made it to the playoffs, where they finished on the fourth position. During the auction of IPL 2018, they went for big names like Jos Buttler and Ben Stokes, who are among the best T20 players available in the auction pool. They helped their team in the crucial junctures but were not able to deliver the winning punch in the knockouts.

They were certainly short of an X factor, which could turn up in the hour of crisis and can deliver the winning punch on the face of oppositions. Although they had several big players, none of them stood up in the Eliminator. It will be interesting to see who will fill the role of X factor in Rajasthan’s team.

Krishnappa Gowtham

Krishnappa Gowtham made his IPL debut last year for Rajasthan and went on to play all the matches. The bowling all-rounder bowled beautifully for them throughout the tournament but he lacks the wicket taking ability. Although he doesn’t concede many runs, spinners are supposed to provide breakthroughs to their team.

However, the Karnataka-born has the ability to bowl tight line and lengths. He has a great first-class record, which shows what he is capable of. Also, he can hit the ball long and it was on display during IPL 2018 as well. Gowtham has the ability to finish the match and he won few games for Rajasthan last year as well. His all-rounder ability is expected to finish RR’s search of an X factor.
