Former Indian cricketer, Sanjay Manjrekar will not be featuring in the commentary panel at the upcoming Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020 which is scheduled to commence on September 19. According to a report in the Mumbai Mirror, the BCCI has finalized a panel of seven Indian commentators for the cash-rich league and Manjrekar is not among them.
The seven commentators are Sunil Gavaskar, L Sivaramakrishnan, Murali Kartik, Deep Dasgupta, Rohan Gavaskar, Harsha Bhogle, and Anjum Chopra. Dasgupta and Kartik will be stationed at Abu Dhabi, while the remaining 5 will be commentating from Sharjah and Dubai.

The reports also suggest that Dubai and Abu Dhabi will be hosting 21 league matches each while Sharjah will host 14 matches during IPL 2020. The commentators will be further divided into three panels and will be placed in two bubbles at Abu Dhabi and Dubai respectively. Kartik and Dasgupta are expected to be flying out to Abu Dhabi on Friday, but the local authorities relaxed the quarantine period from 14 to 7 days. As a result, the two will now leave on September 10 with the rest of their colleagues.
The BCCI is likely to make the full schedule of the tournament public later on Friday. The final of the tournament will be played on November 10 and the matches will be played across three venues in UAE—Abu Dhabi, Dubai, and Sharjah.

The final of this edition will be played on Tuesday and it will be happening for the first time in the history of the tournament. IPL 2020 had to be shifted out of India due to the increasing cases of coronavirus in India.

Informing about the same in a press release, BCCI had stated, “IPL 2020 will be played from September 19 and the final will be played on November 10, 2020. The 53-day tournament will witness 10-afternoon matches starting at 15:30 IST while the evening matches will start at 19:30 IST.”
