The Indian Premier League (IPL) trade window has closed on Friday where all the franchises have named the players ahead of the auction in December. While Delhi Capitals successfully traded Ajinkya Rahane from Rajasthan Royals for the 2020 IPL season, they traded-off Mayank Markande and Rahul Tewatia to the Royals. Rahane represented Royals in seven seasons and was also the top run-getter with 2810 runs from 100 matches. Tewatia, on the other hand, started his IPL career with Royals in 2014 and also played for them in 2015 before shifting to Kings XI Punjab in 2017 and then to Delhi for the 2018 and 2019 seasons.
Earlier, Ravichandran Ashwin had shifted to Delhi from Punjab and the Royals traded-off bowling all-rounder K. Gowtham to Punjab successfully. Trent Boult and Dhawal Kulkarni also shifted to Mumbai Indians. Chennai Super Kings also released five players from the previous year’s squad: Sam Billings, David Willey, Mohit Sharma, Dhruv Shorey and Chaitanya Bishnoi. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders, roped in Siddhesh Lad from Mumbai Indians while release a couple.
