Maharashtra Government’s health minister, Rajesh Tope, on Saturday, suggested that this season of  IPL can be postponed to avoid the risk of the spread of the virus in places of mass gathering. “There is always a possible danger of spread (of contagious diseases) when large numbers of people gather in one place… Such (IPL) events can always be organized later,” Tope commented.

With the number of cases of people being affected by the virus increasing day by day, the BCCI has a vast and difficult decision to take, bearing in mind the potential loss of income, revenue to the cricket board and the team owners if the tournament is canceled such close to its new season.
