In the 29th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be locking horns with the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) at the Dubai International Stadium on Tuesday. With each passing loss, MS Dhoni-led CSK is losing the time to stand a chance to maintain their record of reaching the playoffs in every season.

The three-time champions and last edition’s runner-up, CSK are seeking a revival of fortunes after suffering five defeats in seven games. They are currently at the penultimate position in the eight-team standings halfway into the tournament. Considered one of the most successful chasers in the history of the tournament with a chase-master in Dhoni, CSK’s batting struggle this year can be gauged from the fact that all their defeats came while chasing the target down.

While Shane Watson and Faf du Plessis have had decent outings so far, CSK needs to find a balance in their squad. In the last game against RCB, CSK’s chase fell apart after the dismissal of Rayudu and Jagadeesan departed. The likes of Sam Curran, Ravindra Jadeja, and Dwayne Bravo too failed to come to the team’s rescue.

Only twice have teams managed to win by chasing at Dubai and the second instance was on Sunday featuring SRH. Royals managed to pull off a heist and that wouldn’t deter both teams going into this clash. They would both want runs on the board.

Vijay Shankar came into the side in place of Abdul Samad in the last game and will be expected to stay in the playing XI. Priyam Garg hasn’t made a big impact with the bat in this edition but the one game where he managed to score a fifty, was against CSK in their previous clash. So SRH will see no reason to drop him as well.

Probable XI: David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson, Priyam Garg, Vijay Shankar, Abhishek Sharma, Rashid Khan. Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan, Khaleel Ahmed

N Jagadeesan didn’t exactly set the stage on fire but looked in good nick as he approached the game better than Ambati Rayudu, however, their partnership against RCB was crucial. Will he manage to hold on to his spot? If he does, CSK will be better served to have him open the innings that will push Faf du Plessis to number 3. If Watson and du Plessis fail, CSK will have to tinker with their batting and send an enforcer in at number 4.

Probable XI: Shane Watson, N Jagadeesan, Faf du Plessis, Ambati Rayudu, Sam Curran, MS Dhoni c & wk), Ravindra Jadeja, Dwayne Bravo, Deepak Chahar, Karn Sharma, Shadul Thakur
