In the 36th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Mumbai Indians (MI) will be locking horns with the Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) at the Dubai International Cricket Stadium on Sunday. Facing MI will be a stern challenger for KL Rahul-led KXIP as the side has been consistently winning games and possess a formidable batting and bowling attack.

From Quinton de Kock and Rohit Sharma to Jasprit Bumrah and Trent Boult, MI has most of their players in prime form. They are currently standing at the second position in the IPL 2020 points table, and they would look to consolidate their position. Kings XI Punjab has been mostly struggling to convert their starts to a win throughout the tournament so far.

KXIP did manage to win against RCB in their previous match but facing Mumbai would not be easy. However, it would be interesting to see how Mumbai manages to put a stop to the storm named Chris Gayle. The pitches have become slower, and teams are struggling to chase down totals over 160. Even as Rohit Sharma has suggested that they have no problem in chasing down targets, it will be interesting to see if MI takes that route.

The defending champions are willing to rest some of their first XI players. With James Pattinson getting rested in the previous game, they might look for some more changes. Krunal Pandya is desperate to get some time with the bat and could be promoted higher up in the order.

Probable XI: Quinton de Kock (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Suryakumar Yadav, Ishan Kishan, Hardik Pandya, Kieron Pollard, Krunal Pandya, Nathan Coulter-Nile, Trent Boult/Mitchell McClenaghan, Jasprit Bumrah

Chris Gayle made sure he took his opportunity in the last game. So did Chris Jordan. Glenn Maxwell’s contributions with the bat have only been indicating towards his downfall.  KXIP has experimented a lot and confusion continues on whether they will stick with their XI from the previous game or not. However, with three southpaws in the top seven, there could be a case of adding an offspinner in the side.

Probable XI: KL Rahul (c/wk), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, K Gowtham, Chris Jordan, Ravi Bishnoi, Mohammed Shami, Arshdeep Singh
