The 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) will be played between Kings XI Punjab (KXIP) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the Dubai international stadium on Tuesday. With a super-over win over mighty Mumbai Indians, KL Rahul and his men have managed to get on the right side of the results in the last couple of games, although it was too close for comfort by their own admission.

Even in the game against RCB, needing seven off the last couple of overs with nine wickets in hand, they should have wrapped the match much before the last ball and even in the IPL’s first double Super Over against MI on Sunday night, the KL Rahul-led side could have closed it out in regulation time.

Delhi has arguably emerged as the team to beat in the tournament and has gained confidence with a close win against Chennai Super Kings on Saturday night. While Prithvi Shaw needs to be back among the runs as he has been failing to start his innings, his opening partner Shikhar Dhawan elevating his game bodes well for the team that has won seven out of the nine matches it has played.

Glenn Maxwell has made himself useful as a sixth bowling option despite having a bad patch with the bat. It wouldn’t be entirely surprising if Punjab offers him a long rope and stick to their winning combination for a third game on the trot.

Probable XI: KL Rahul (C, wk), Mayank Agarwal, Chris Gayle, Nicholas Pooran, Glenn Maxwell, Deepak Hooda, Chris Jordan, M Ashwin, Ravi Bishnoi, Arshdeep Singh, Mohammed Shami

Delhi has signed legspinner Pravin Dubey as a replacement for Amit Mishra, but it’s unlikely he’ll break into the XI just yet. Rishabh Pant though in all likelihood will make his comeback against KXIP, meaning Alex Carey returns back to the bench and Shimron Hetmyer into the playing XI.

Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Shreyas Iyer (C), Shimron Hetmyer, Rishabh Pant (wk), Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, R Ashwin, Tushar Deshpande, Kagiso Rabada Anrich Nortje
