In the 40th match of the ongoing Indian Premier League (IPL) 2020, Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be locking horns with Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) at the Dubai International Cricket Ground on Thursday. SRH has managed to win just three out of nine games and is reeling at the seventh position in the points table. They had played a super-over against Kolkata Knight Riders in their last game and managed only two runs.

Though Sunrisers are running low on confidence, the door to the playoffs is still open for them. David Warner will be looking to turn things around with both his leadership as well as batting. On the other hand, out of ten matches that they have played, RR has only four victories under their belt. Having a better look at the things, they’ve won only two of their last eight league matches.

It shows how inconsistent they are with the form. Rajasthan Royals started the campaign with two wins but couldn’t stretch that streak further. However, the CSK win will give them confidence as the tournament is heading towards its business end.

After Jaydev Unadkat’s horror over that fetched RCB 25 runs in the penultimate over and was instrumental in RR losing the match that they controlled, for the most part, they brought in Rajpoot for the left-armer. Although Rajpoot bowled just the one over against CSK with six bowling options at their disposal, RR should retain the same XI.

Probable XI: Robin Uthappa, Ben Stokes, Sanju Samson (wk), Steven Smith (c), Jos Buttler, Riyan Parag, Rahul Tewatia, Jofra Archer, Shreyas Gopal, Ankit Rajpoot, Kartik Tyagi

Kane Williamson struggled with a hamstring niggle against KKR, and he can be expected to miss the game against RR. Given the pace assistance in Dubai, Jason Holder could come in for him, adding to their middle order as well as giving them a seventh bowling option if Samad is used. Vijay Shankar bowling a complete spell will give SRH some confidence for the middle overs. Thampi went for runs in his first game this season, but SRH doesn’t have much reason to leave him out.

Probable XI: David Warner (c), Jonny Bairstow (wk), Manish Pandey, Kane Williamson/Jason Holder, Priyam Garg, Vijay Shankar, Abdul Samad, Rashid Khan, Sandeep Sharma, T Natarajan, Basil Thampi
