There is no denying the fact that most of the Indian cricket fans are eagerly waiting for the 13th edition of the Indian Premier League (IPL) which can be expected to commence on September 19 in the United Arab Emirates with the final expected to take place on November 8, 2020, well-placed BCCI sources told PTI on Thursday. While the IPL Governing Council is scheduled to meet next week to finalize the schedule of the tournament, teh reports are suggesting that the BCCI has already informed the franchises about the plan.
As per the quotes in PTI, a senior BCCI official has said, “IPL in all likelihood will start on September 19 (Saturday) and the final will be held on November 8 (Sunday). It is a 51-day window that will suit the franchises as well as the broadcasters and other stakeholders.”

The IPL 2020 can be expected to go ahead as the ICC has postponed the T20 World Cup which was scheduled to take place in October-November in Australia dured to the rising cases of teh coronavirus pandemic. The postpone has given a chances to BCCI to host the cash-rich league.
While there were rumors taking rounds speculations that IPL will start from September 26, the BCCI decided to prepone it by a week in order to make sure that the Team India’s tour of Australia is not jeopardized.
Confirming the same, the BCCI official said, “The Indian team will have a mandatory quarantine of 14 days as per Australian government rules. A delay would have sent the plans haywire. The best part is that 51 days is not at all a curtailed period and there will be much fewer doubleheaders. We could stick to the original five doubleheaders in a seven-week window.”

It is expected that with each and every team is requiring at least 4-5 weeks for their preparations, the franchises will be leaving base by August 20 which gives them exactly four weeks’ time to get match-ready.
