IPL 2021: BCCI Defines Strict Protocols For Second Phase In The UAE

The second phase of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 is scheduled to be commencing on September 19 in the UAE. Ahead of the tournament, there are sure bio-bubble conventions set forward in the BCCI’s Health and Safety Protocols. The players and the staff will all need to follow the strict guidelines in the midst of these troublesome occasions. As of late, it has been noticed that despite the severe bio-secure conditions, the Covid-19 infection had hit the camps.

Thinking about this, BCCI has put some conditions if an individual test positive. As per the convention, anybody testing positive during the IPL 2021 should be put into isolation for a time of at least ten days. As per the reports in ESPNCricinfo, if a player tests positive, he will undergo a couple of tests on day nine and day ten.

For the person to reemerge the air pocket it is required to clear two negative RT-PCR tests that will be conducted within 24 hours. Altogether, BCCI will be creating as many as 14 bio-secure bubbles are to be shaped for the IPL. Eight group bubbles, three for match authorities and the other three for broadcasting and the reporters.

“Breach of any Bio-Secure Environment protocols by franchise members or their families will be subject to disciplinary action by the BCCI,” the governing body said in its Health and Safety protocols, a copy of which is in possession of PTI.

Players from several countries will participate in the cash-rich league.

According to the protocols, “All franchise team members must undergo a COVID-19 RT-PCR test, 72 hours before their scheduled flight … All individuals must quarantine themselves and avoid contact with others after the RT-PCR test. “All members whose RT-PCR test result is negative may travel to the franchise’s city of choice,” it stated, which means that there is no quarantine for international players.

The document also said, “depending on the country of flight departure, all international passengers arriving at Dubai airport are required to display a negative RT-PCR test report for the sample taken between 48-72 hours before their scheduled flight. For passengers arriving from India, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and Pakistan, it is mandatory that the COVID-19 PCR report includes a QR code linked to the original report for the verification process.”

The document also laid down the process which the “franchise team members and their families would undertake” for “entering and remaining within the Bubble.”
