Shivam Dube has played 13 international games for India but hasn’t found his feet yet. He has often been looked struggling while playing for teams. Now, former New Zealand skipper Daniel Vettori has raised concern over Dube’s craft as an all-rounder. The Mumbai-born cricket was brought into the spotlight when Royal Challengers Bangalore bought him for a whopping 5 crores in the auction for IPL 2019.

He spent two mediocre seasons with the franchise where he couldn’t do anything noteworthy and finally got released ahead of this season. Rajasthan Royals trusted in his abilities and purchased him for 4.4 crores.

Vettori told ESPNCricinfo during an interactive session that he finds Dube’s abilities below par with both bat and ball.

“I think as soon as you are labelled an Indian all-rounder, you face high expectations and you generally gather a high auction price. He got a big price at the RCB, not so big at Rajasthan but my concern with Shivam Dube is that both facets of his game aren’t quite up to standards,” he said.

Dube’s claim to fame was actually the fact that he was a fast-bowling all-rounder, a craft that is quite rare to be found in the country. Though he rarely gets wickets whenever an opportunity arises.

Meanwhile, former Kiwi all-rounder believes teams are yet to figure out the ways to bring the best out of Dube.

He further added “There’s sort of mixing and matching to try and put him in certain situations where he can be successful. And I don’t think any team that has been involved with him has found that just yet. So, there’s a lot expected of him but I am not sure if he’s quite up to the task in either facet of his game.”

Dube played rather scratchy innings during the game against Chennai Super Kings when his team was chasing a mammoth total of 189. RR’s team management trusted him at number 4 ahead of David Miller but he couldn’t find a rhythm before getting out to Ravindra Jadeja. His 17 runs came in 20 balls, where he could only hit two boundaries.
