Mumbai Indians and Punjab Kings are locking horns in the 42nd match of the Indian Premier League 2021 in Abu Dhabi. Both teams have won four matches out of ten they have played so far and are trying to get another victory under their belt to strengthen their playoff hopes.
Rohit Sharma won the toss and opted to bowl first. MI brought Saurabh Tiwary and Nathan Coulter-Nile in the playing XI while leaving Ishan Kishan and Adam Milne out. PKBS brought in Mandeep Singh as Mayank Agarwal was injured.

Mandeep Singh and KL Rahul provided PKBS with a steady start and added 36 runs for the opening wicket before Krunal Pandya dismissed the former. Kieron Pollard, then, came and dismissed Rahul and Chris Gayle in the same over and reduced PKBS to 41/3 in 7 overs.
Nicholas Pooran’s poor form continues in the IPL as Jasprit Bumrah trapped him in front of the wickets. Aiden Markram, then, played a handy knock of 42 runs which came in just 29 balls featuring six fours. Deepak Hooda also contributed with 28 runs in 26 balls and PKBS posted 135/6 in 20 overs.
In response, Quinton de Kock started playing aggressive shots as soon as the chase started. Ravi Bishnoi dismissed Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav in consecutive balls. De Kock got out after scoring 27 runs in 29 balls. Saurabh Tiwary played a handy knock of 45 runs in 37 balls.

The asking rate for MI shot to 10 runs per over with Hardik Pandya and Kieron Pollard in the middle. Both played some big shots in the death overs against Mohammed Shami and Arshdeep Singh and took MI over the line within 19 overs. Hardik scored unbeaten 40 runs and guided his team over the line.
