In the 25th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021 Delhi Capitals (DC) will be locking horns with Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at the Narendra Modi Stadium in Ahmedabad on Thursday. DC has pulled off four wins in the six games and a couple of losses have also been quite close ones. While openers Shikhar Dhawan and Prithvi Shaw have excelled, their overseas stars haven’t really fired in the middle overs. With Delhi failing to do much in terms of death bowling, they might ponder a few changes against KKR.
On the other hand, KKR hasn’t done too well in IPL 2021, as they have managed to win just a couple of matches in six games, and hence, they are placed in the bottom half of the IPL 2021 points table. However, they snapped their four-match losing streak earlier in the week after a win over Punjab Kings (PBKS) at the same venue and will be looking to keep the momentum intact. They will need Shubman Gill to find his mojo soon, as the youngster is yet to fire this season.
With a resourceful squad at their disposal, KKR can’t be taken lightly after Eoin Morgan getting his form back. DC and KKR look evenly matched on paper with nothing much to separate the two sides. However, Delhi Capitals might hold the edge, owing to their performances in IPL 2021 so far. Either way, both teams will be aiming to a win at any cost and that’s what makes it a mouth-watering clash on Thursday.
Delhi Capitals (DC)
R Ashwin’s departure could still be under scrutiny for DC but Ishant Sharma has been performing well for them. Citing Amit Mishra having a decent record against Dinesh Karthik, he will be expected to be retained. But that apart, they might be tempted to get in an offspinner against the left-handers in KKR’s lineup.
Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, Shikhar Dhawan, Rishabh Pant (w/c), Steven Smith, Shimron Hetmyer, Marcus Stoinis, Axar Patel, Amit Mishra, Kagiso Rabada, Ishant Sharma, Avesh Khan
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
Barring any niggles, KKR will be expected to field the same playing XI in the previous outing. KKR’s spin attack has had considerable success against DC and they will be expected to perform against DC as well. With Eoin Morgan back in form, KKR’s middle-order looks more settled than before.
Probable XI: Nitish Rana, Shubman Gill, Rahul Tripathi, Sunil Narine, Eoin Morgan (c), Dinesh Karthik (wk), Andre Russell, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Prasidh Krishna, Varun Chakravarthy
Fantasy Suggestion #1:
Rishabh Pant, Shikhar Dhawan (c), Eoin Morgan, Shubman Gill, Shimron Hetmyer, Andre Russell (vc), Axar Patel, Pat Cummins, Varun Chakravarthy, Amit Mishra, and Kagiso Rabada
Fantasy Suggestion #2:
