In the 44th game of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2021, Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be locking horns with each other on 30th September at Sharjah Cricket Stadium. CSK has been consistent with their performances this season, as they have won 8 of their 10 matches and they are standing in second place on the points table. On the other hand, it has become a season to forget for the SRH, they have managed to win just 2 of their 10 games so far and standing at bottom of the table.

CSK last played Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) at Abu Dhabi, where they won the game by 2 wickets on the last ball of the match. Batting first, KKR had scored 171 runs for the loss of 6 wickets. Josh Hazlewood and Shardul Thakur picked a couple of wickets each. Coming to chase, CSK registered an opening partnership of 74 runs between Faf (43) and Ruturaj Gaikwad (40). Towards the end, things seemed to be a bit messy for them but they ended up getting over the line owing to Ravindra Jadeja’s 8-ball 22 runs innings.

SRH met Rajasthan Royals (RR) in their previous league game where they registered a 7-wicket win. Batting first, RR managed 164 runs for the loss of 5 wickets. SRH managed to get over the line with 9 balls to spare, Jason Roy (60) and Kane Williamson (51*) helped them register their second win of the season. These two teams have played 16 matches against each other in the history of this tournament so far, where CSK fetched 12 victories while SRH managed just 4 of those wins. The last time the two teams met was in Delhi during this season and CSK pulled off a comfortable 7-wicket win.

It is imperative for SRH that Kane Williamson seems to have come back in form with his fifty against RR. He averages over 46 against CSK and SRH would want their skipper to lead from the front especially with an inexperienced trio of Abhishek Sharma, Priyam Garg, and Abdul Samad not looking in a great form in the middle order.

Probable XI: Jason Roy, Wriddhiman Saha (WK), Kane Williamson (C), Priyam Garg, Abhishek Sharma, Abdul Samad, Jason Holder, Rashid Khan, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Siddarth Kaul, Sandeep Sharma

Deepak Chahar has gone wicketless in the powerplay in five out of his last six games in the IPL 2021. Perhaps, there is no better opportunity than this for him to take wickets of Jason Roy and Wriddhiman Saha at a venue that’s been the best for fast bowlers in the UAE leg so far. MS Dhoni does have a strike rate less than 100 against Rashid Khan so the CSK skipper need to find a way to rotate the strike frequently if those two face off.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Faf du Plessis, Moeen Ali, Suresh Raina, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja, MS Dhoni (C & WK), Sam Curran, Shardul Thakur, Deepak Chahar, Josh Hazlewood
