Talented South African batsman Rassie van der Dussen is likely to replace Stokes in the Rajasthan Royals’ squad as a foreign player. According to the reports published in a South Africa cricket magazine, Dussen has given a green signal to RR’s call and he will be giving a fitness test on Monday.

“Rassie van der Dussen’s fitness test could take place on Monday, and he should then officially link up with the Royals soon after should all go well. He will effectively slot in as a replacement for the injured Ben Stokes and will join fellow Proteas Chris Morris and David Miller at the IPL team,” reads the report.

After clearing the fitness test, Dussen will fly to India to participate in the marquee league. He will be an asset for Rajasthan Royals as they are running short of foreign players.

Rajasthan Royals got off to a poor start in the IPL 2021 as they registered a solitary victory in their first four games of the season. After narrowly missing a victory against Punjab Kings in their season opener, RR held their nerve against Delhi Capitals in a thriller to go over the line. However, they suffered consecutive big defeats against Chennai Super Kings and Royal Challengers Bangalore.

RR will play Kolkata Knight Riders in their next game on Saturday. They will be hoping to revive their campaign to keep their playoff hopes alive.
