“I am good, as it should be. At the end of the day, the show must go on and you’ve got to keep smiling whatever happens. We had nothing to lose,” said Suryakumar Yadav after the match.

“We had a target; we just kept running behind it. The pitch was good. Happy to be on the winning side. The World Cup is a big tournament. We don’t change anything. The process and routine all remain the same. So I’m really looking forward to it,” he added.

Mumbai Indians had an uphill task going into the final league game against Sunrisers Hyderabad. They needed to win the game by a huge margin of 171 runs. MI batsmen came out with all guns blazing as Ishan Kishan scored a 16-ball fifty. He got out after scoring 84 runs in 32 balls.

Suryakumar was the other MI batsman who played a sublime knock and took MI’s total to 235/9 in 20 overs. MI had to restrict SRH below 65. However, they crossed this target inside the powerplay and knocked MI out of the IPL 2021 and KKR became the fourth team to book a berth in the playoffs.

Ishan Kishan also returned to form with back-to-back fifties

MI won seven games and lost seven games but a poor net run rate in comparison to Kolkata Knight Riders was them bowing out of the tournament. The return of form for Ishan Kishan and Suryakumar Yadav is going to be a big plus for India in the upcoming T20 World Cup 2021.
