Royal Challengers Bangalore and Kolkata Knight Riders locked horns in the 31st match of the Indian Premier League 2021 in Abu Dhabi. This was the game when this season got derailed back in May as it got postponed before the whole tournament was suspended.
Virat Kohli won the toss and opted to bat first. But nothing went in his favour after the flick of the coin toss as he got out cheaply in the second over of the match to Prasidh Krishna for five. Devdutt Padikkal got out on the last ball of the powerplay.

The onus was on Glenn Maxwell and AB de Villiers to do the repair job but the latter got out to Andre Russell for a golden duck. Russell had dismissed K Bharat earlier in that over and completed a double-wicket burst by removing De Villiers with a yorker.
RCB was further jolted by another double-wicket blow by Varun Chakravarthy. Bowling the 12th over of the innings, Varun clean bowled Glenn Maxwell, who had the responsibility to save RCB’s blushes but perished in an attempt to break the shackles.
Wanindu Hasaranga came out to bat on his debut game and got out for a golden duck. He couldn’t read Chakravarthy’s variation and get trapped in front of the wickets. These successive wickets reduced RCB to 63/6 in 12 overs.

Chakravarthy was on a hat-trick and he almost completed it as well when he thought he trapped Kyle Jamieson in front of the wicket too. Chakravarthy pleaded for a DRS but captain Eoin Morgan politely rejected his request as there was a clear edge on the pad.
