As Chennai Super Kings have won the title this season, Chepauk will be the first choice for the inaugural match but there is no official decision has been taken about their opponents. Notably, the IPL will be returning to India fully as the BCCI secretary Jay Shah has announced recently in Chennai, where CSK celebrated their fourth IPL title win. However, the full season of 2020 and a half-season of 2021 have been played in UAE due to the COVID-19 pandemic outbreak in India.
