In the 17th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 Chennai Super Kings (CSK) and Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be facing each other at the Dr DY Patil Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday (April 9). Ravindra Jadeja’s reign as captain of CSK has started with three consecutive losses in as many matches, and Kane Williamson’s SRH hasn’t witnessed anything different this season as well, as they have lost both their matches played so far.

CSK suffered defeats against Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), Lucknow Super Giants (LSG), and their last loss came against Punjab Kings (PBKS). Although the bowlers did well in the first innings, the batters failed and CSK was bundled out for 126 in 18 overs, chasing a target of 181. On the other hand, SRH lost their season opener against Rajasthan Royals (RR) by a huge margin and followed that with a close defeat against new entrants LSG, falling short by 12 while chasing 170 at the same venue as Saturday’s match.

The two southern rivals have locked horns with each other 16 times in IPL so far and it is CSK that has enjoyed the fair share of success against SRH with 12 wins. CSK also hold the edge in the last five meetings as they have won 3 games. So, we will be in for an interesting contest on Saturday afternoon as both teams need their maiden win of the season. As for the team combination, both teams may stick to the same 11 from their last match. However, they could make a change in the bowling department.

It’s ironic that a team like CSK is yet to get off the mark in IPL 2022. There is a potential chance that CSK may look to bring in Rajvardhan Hangargekar for Mukesh Chowdhury. One of the reasons for Chennai Super Kings’ underperformance has been the form of last year’s Orange cap winner, Ruturaj Gaikwad. He hasn’t had the best of starts this year having failed in all three innings so far. But it is only a matter of spending some time in the middle, and he should be back to his best.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Ravindra Jadeja (C), Shivam Dube, MS Dhoni (WK), Dwayne Bravo, Dwaine Pretorius, Chris Jordan & Rajvardhan Hangargekar

Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH)

Even as Sunrisers Hyderabad have suffered two back-to-back defeats, the team may not make any changes to their playing XI as they are already fielding their best possible players on the park. However, SRH may want to improvise their batting line-up. While Kane is more potent for number 3, Rahul. The team can also look to replace Umran Malik with Kartik Tyagi and Romario Shephard with Marco Jansen. However, the chances of this happening look slim.

Probable XI: Kane Williamson (C), Abhishek Sharma, Rahul Tripathi, Aiden Markram, Nicholas Pooran (WK), Abdul Samad, Romario Shephard, Washington Sundar, Umran Malik, Bhuvneshwar Kumar & T Natarajan

Fantasy Suggestion 1:

MS Dhoni, Robin Uthappa, Rahul Tripathi, Moeen Ali (c), Aiden Markram, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja (vc), Washington Sundar, Dwayne Bravo, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, T Natarajan.

Fantasy Suggestion 2:

Nicholas Pooran, Robin Uthappa (c), Ruturaj Gaikwad, Rahul Tripathi (vc), Kane Williamson, Shivam Dube, Moeen Ali, Ravindra Jadeja, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Chris Jordan, T Natarajan.
