The 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be witnessed in an interesting contest between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). It will be the afternoon game on Sunday at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai. KKR will be eager to win this game and take a strong step towards making their position strong on the points table. A win can swell KKR’s points tally to 8 and they will be in a better position to make a move toward the playoffs.
However, the Delhi outfit too needs a win, as they have just 2 points from three games and are in the bottom half of the table. The Rishabh Pant-led side will be keen to add two more points and that can give them a breathing space on the points table. On the other hand, KKR under Shreyas Iyer is a confident and cohesive unit that can tackle most situations as they had shown while snatching a win against Mumbai Indians the other day.

The two old rivals have locked horns with each other 30 times in IPL so far and it is KKR that has enjoyed the fair share of success against DC with 16 wins. KKR also hold the edge in the last five meetings as they have won 3 games. So, we will be in for an interesting contest on Saturday afternoon as both teams need their maiden win of the season. As for the team combination, both teams may stick to the same 11 from their last match.
#1 Prithvi Shaw vs Pat Cummins
Prithvi Shaw will be facing his previous foe who’s troubled him quite a bit in the past. Australian quick Pat Cummins has dismissed the young batter thrice in their previous encounters. Shaw’s last game for DC was run-filled with scores of 61 and giving him the much-needed confidence to have a go against the KKR bowling unit tonight. This will be a classic contest of pace vs power.
#2 Rishabh Pant vs Sunil Narine
It’s mystery vs magic when Sunil Narine loads up to bowl against Rishabh Pant. He has dismissed the skipper seven times in the last 18 innings. Unleashing Narine in the powerplay might not be a bad idea considering he has dismissed Pant quite a few times in the IPL. Pant is yet to notch up a fifty in the 2022 edition, and this might be the game where he hits his straps.
#3 Kuldeep Yadav vs Shreyas Iyer
Kuldeep Yadav may have been expensive for DC in the first game against MI, but he took a three-wicket haul as well. With Kolkata’s openers in a bit of a slump, he will be eager to prize out the top two and get the better of their skipper Shreyas Iyer. Iyer has managed to get off to starts but is yet to play the defining innings that is expected of him. How he fares against a fiery Kuldeep remains to be seen.
