The 19th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 will be witnessed in an interesting contest between Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) and Delhi Capitals (DC). It will be the afternoon game on Sunday at the Brabourne stadium in Mumbai. KKR will be eager to win this game and take a strong step towards making their position strong on the points table. A win can swell KKR’s points tally to 8 and they will be in a better position to make a move toward the playoffs.
However, the Delhi outfit too needs a win, as they have just 2 points from three games and are in the bottom half of the table. The Rishabh Pant-led side will be keen to add two more points and that can give them a breathing space on the points table. On the other hand, KKR under Shreyas Iyer is a confident and cohesive unit that can tackle most situations as they had shown while snatching a win against Mumbai Indians the other day.
The two old rivals have locked horns with each other 30 times in IPL so far and it is KKR that has enjoyed the fair share of success against DC with 16 wins. KKR also hold the edge in the last five meetings as they have won 3 games. So, we will be in for an interesting contest on Saturday afternoon as both teams need their maiden win of the season. As for the team combination, both teams may stick to the same 11 from their last match.
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR)
The openers look a bit out of sync with KKR’s no-holds-barred approach while batting. Ajinkya Rahane averages only 18 at a strike rate of 109.09 in the first four games. But, at the other end, Venkatesh Iyer isn’t having a great tournament either and is surprisingly striking at 87.04 inside the PP this season, but the side will breathe a sigh of relief after his unbeaten fifty in the last game.
Probable XI: Ajinkya Rahane, Venkatesh Iyer, Shreyas Iyer(c), Sam Billings(w), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Umesh Yadav, Rasikh Salam, Varun Chakravarthy
Delhi Capitals (DC)
DC witnessed a tough match against the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) as they lost 3 for 47 in the middle overs. Against KKR, they will be up against spinners who’ve conceded the least number of runs between overs 7-15. Rishabh Pant, too, struggled against the LSG spinners in the last game and thus it will be crucial that David Warner or Prithvi Shaw bat deep into the innings.
Probable XI: Prithvi Shaw, David Warner, Rishabh Pant(w/c), Rovman Powell, Sarfaraz Khan, Lalit Yadav, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Anrich Nortje
Fantasy suggestion 1:
Rishabh Pant, David Warner, Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, Pat Cummins (C), Andre Russell, Venkatesh Iyer, Umesh Yadav (VC), Mustafizur Rahman, Kuldeep Yadav, Rasikh Salam
Fantasy suggestion 2:
Rishabh Pant, David Warner (C), Shreyas Iyer, Prithvi Shaw, Ajinkya Rahane, Pat Cummins, Andre Russell (VC), Umesh Yadav, Mustafizur Rahman, Kuldeep Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy
