Mumbai Indians (MI) and Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) will be locking horns with each other in the 24th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. While MI finished fifth place last IPL 2021, LSG is playing in their inaugural season. Mumbai Indians haven’t yet opened their account with five losses in as many matches, on the other hand, LSG has won three and lost two matches this season.

Both the teams will be playing their second match at Brabourne this season, with MI losing to DC, and LSG defeating CSK at the ground. The opening pair of Quinton de Kock and KL Rahul has played some match-winning knocks for LSG this season, combined with the finishing powers of Deepak Hooda and Ayush Badoni. The bowling attack has a combination of wicket-takers in Avesh Khan and Jason Holder, along with economical bowlers in Ravi Bishnoi and Krunal Pandya.

The form of the opening batters Rohit Sharma and Ishan Kishan is a concern for MI. However, Suryakumar Yadav, along with teenagers Dewald Brevis and Tilak Varma, has managed to play some exceptional knocks. Barring Jasprit Bumrah, the bowling has not been up to the mark for Mumbai Indians and they need to be improving on it to get off the mark this season.

Mumbai Indians might look to beef up their lower middle order, especially given that Lucknow Super Giants have been poor in the death overs. LSG seamers have gone at 10.87 while six overs from their spinners in this phase have leaked 83 runs (ER 13.83).

Probable XI: Ishan Kishan (wk), Rohit Sharma (c), Dewald Brevis, Tilak Varma, Suryakumar Yadav, Kieron Pollard, Fabian Allen, Murugan Ashwin, Jasprit Bumrah, Jaydev Unadkat/Basil Thampi, Tymal Mills

No team has employed more overs of spin in the middle overs than LSG and they have not only managed to take wickets in this phase, but also conceded runs under run-a-ball. K Gowtham was brought in against left-hander heavy sides like DC and RR while Krunal was not used at all against RR. Ravi Bishnoi has done well against MI batters (Surya, Rohit, Kishan, and Pollard) and has managed to keep them quiet.

Probable XI: KL Rahul (c), Quinton de Kock (wk), Deepak Hooda, Marcus Stoinis, Ayush Badoni, Jason Holder, Krunal Pandya, K Gowtham, Dushmantha Chameera, Ravi Bishnoi, Avesh Khan
