In the 34th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022, Delhi Capitals (DC) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) will be locking horns with each other at the Wankhede Stadium. Both teams are coming off big wins in their previous games, and Delhi in particular registered a dominating win over Punjab. Despite the absence of Mitchell Marsh and Anrich Nortje, the side has been doing well and a lot of credit has to be given to the Indian contingent in the line-up.
They are likely to continue with the same playing XI for the upcoming game as well. On the other hand, the RR registered a close win over the Kolkata Knight Riders in their previous game. Yuzvendra Chahal’s wicket-taking form has been a huge bonus while Jos Buttler has been very impressive at the top of the order.

With 4 wins in 6 games, the Royals are at the third position in the points table and they will be looking to continue the winning momentum in the upcoming match as well. They have locked horns with each other in 24 IPL matches so far and Delhi and Rajasthan have won 12 games each. Even in their last 5 encounters, RR is having a 3-2 lead over DC.
Ahead of the much-anticipated clash at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai, We take a look at the key player battles to watch out for between DC and RR.
#1 David Warner vs Trent Boult
Having scored three consecutive half-centuries after an initial failure this season, David Warner will be up against an in-form comprehensive bowling attack. Warner’s challenges in this match would be against RR spearhead Trent Boult. In their previous four IPL encounters, Warner has scored just 23 (21) with the help of four fours at a strike rate of 109.52 without getting out even once. As far as T20Is are concerned, Warner’s record isn’t even this good against Boult.
#2 Kuldeep Yadav vs Sanju Samson
DC spinner Kuldeep Yadav has been taking crucial wickets quite consistently this season so far. He has already scalped 13 wickets and has managed to bamboozle the best of batters in IPL 2022. Sanju Samson, meanwhile, has lived up to the hype, smashing 155 runs from six games at an average of 25.83 and a strike rate of 158.16. It will be a contest between guile and guts when these two players will be facing off each other.
#3 Jos Buttler vs Khaleel Ahmed
Khaleel Ahmed, who is Delhi’s second-highest wicket-taker (10) after Kuldeep Yadav (13), has been quite miserly in terms of conceding runs. But he will be up against RR star Jos Buttler, who will take added responsibility. Buttler is the leading run-getter for RR and Ahmed will be keen to send the veteran batter packing.
