Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) will be locking horns with Gujarat Titans (GT) in the 35th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Dr. DY Patil Sports Academy in Navi Mumbai. The Shreyas Iyer-led side had suffered a loss in their last game against Rajasthan Royals (RR) in a close encounter and they have lost all their three previous matches as well.

KKR’s bowling lineup needs to be reassessed as they have been conceding a lot of runs in the last few games, however, they are likely to go in with the same playing XI. On the other hand, Gujarat Titans have been the best team so far in the first half of the season and they have excelled in all three departments.

Each player in the GT squad has stepped up in different matches and the batting form of David Miller has solved a lot of issues for the Hardik Pandya-led side this season in the batting department. Vijay Shankar will definitely need some runs under his belt to retain his place while the skipper is set to be back in the playing XI at the expense of Yash Dayal.

Barring Sunil Narine, all KKR bowlers have conceded runs in the last three games. Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy, Pat Cummins, Tim Southee, and Andre Russell have leaked runs at more than ten an over. Especially dire has been the performance of Chakravarthy, who has conceded as many as 75 runs in five overs in the last couple of matches and has gone wicketless. KKR will need the spinner to put in an impact performance before it’s too late for him and the side.

Probable XI: Venkatesh Iyer, Aaron Finch, Shreyas Iyer (c), Nitish Rana, Andre Russell, Sheldon Jackson (wk), Sunil Narine, Pat Cummins, Shivam Mavi, Umesh Yadav, Varun Chakravarthy

Venkatesh Iyer has grabbed the finisher’s spot from Hardik but has been struggling in IPL 2022. The GT captain, on the other hand, has not only scored runs when his team was in need but also has been taking wickets with the ball. On average Hardik is involved in 55 balls every game(33 with the bat & 22 with the ball). The selectors will surely keep an eye on the performance of the two all-rounders, especially with Hardik doing well with the ball.

Probable XI: Wriddhiman Saha (wk), Shubman Gill, Vijay Shankar, Hardik Pandya (c), David Miller, Abhinav Manohar, Rahul Tewatia, Rashid Khan, Alzarri Joseph, Lockie Ferguson, Mohammed Shami
