Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Chennai Super Kings (CSK) will be facing each other in the 38th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai. Punjab was completely shattered in the previous match as they were all out for just 115 and ended up losing the match by a big margin of nine wickets with more than nine overs to spare.

The strategy to go in with six batters and five bowlers failed completely for PBKS and now they will definitely be looking to strengthen their batting department, especially which has been on and off at times. They are likely to make changes to their playing XI and will be trying to bring in Bahnuka Rajapaksa who showed good signs early and Jonny Bairstow might warm the bench.

On the other hand, the Chennai Super Kings got over the line against the Mumbai Indians (MI) in their previous game on account of an excellent finish from their former skipper, MS Dhoni who played a vintage knock. The bowling looked all sorted with the inclusion of Dwaine Pretorius and Mukesh Choudhary was outstanding with the new ball. They are likely to go in with the same side for the upcoming fixture as well.

CSK’s openers have failed to go past the score of 28 while the best a no. 3 batter has managed so far in the season is Mooen Ali’s 35, and Punjab would want to keep it that way. To that effect, they could give Arshsdeep Singha go at (a struggling) Ruturaj Gaikwad who has been dismissed twice by the pacer already in their nascent IPL careers.

Probable XI: Mayank Agarwal (C), Shikhar Dhawan, Jonny Bairstow/Bhanuka Rajapaksa, Liam Livingstone, Jitesh Sharma (wk), Shahrukh Khan, Odean Smith, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Arshdeep Singh, Vaibhav Arora

Punjab’s spinners collectively have the least impressive economy rate in IPL 2022 of 8.65 – a weakness CSK will be looking to exploit very well. Could this tempt CSK into bringing back Mooen for the game or even Jadeja promoting himself up in order to get some runs under his belt. Dhoni holds the key after powerplay against a team he’s scored five fifties and an overall 630 runs at an average of 52.5.

Probable XI: Ruturaj Gaikwad, Robin Uthappa, Mitchell Santner/Moeen Ali, Ambati Rayudu, Shivam Dube, Ravindra Jadeja (C), MS Dhoni (wk), Dwaine Pretorius, Dwayne Bravo, Maheesh Theekshana, Mukesh Choudhary
