The Sunrisers Hyderabad (SRH) will be looking to add another win under their belt when they will lock horns with Chennai Super Kings (CSK) for the 46th match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 at the MCA Stadium in Pune. There was some optimism among CSK supporters when the team defeated Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) and Mumbai Indians (MI) in the tournament, but the Men in Yellow failed to win any game since then.

With Ravindra Jadeja handing back the captaincy to MS Dhoni, they will be expecting to get back on the winning ways. On the other hand, SRH made a brilliant comeback after they lost their first couple of matches, as they grabbed five consecutive victories. In their last match against Gujarat Titans, they lost the match on the last ball.

SRH have assembled an underrated yet destructive bowling attack in the form of Umran Malik, Marco Jansen, Bhuvneshwar Kumar, Washington Sundar, and T Natarajan. In their reverse fixture against CSK, Abhishek Sharma was outstanding with the bat. The two old rivals have locked horns with each other 18 times in IPL so far and it is CSK that has enjoyed the fair share of success against SRH with 13 wins.

Ahead of the marquee IPL 2022 clash, We take a look at the three player battles to watch out for.

#1 Kane Williamson vs Maheesh Theekshana

After being dismissed by a leg-spinner thrice in his last four encounters, CSK may tinker with the prospect of pitting Maheesh Theekshana against SRH skipper, Kane Williamson. Theekshana has been the side’s leading wicket-taker as he has scalped 8 wickets in 5 matches, while Kane Williamson has not been the leading run-scorers for SRH but he has scored 148 runs from 8 matches. The skipper against the leggie will be a cracking contest.

#2 Bhuvneshwar Kumar vs Robin Uthappa

Another mouth-watering contest between Robin Uthappa and Bhuvneshwar Kumar will set the tone and perhaps even decide the final outcome. Bhuvneshwar hasn’t been among the wickets in IPL 2022. He has 9 wickets to show in 8 games, and batters seem happy playing him off and finding the odd boundary. Uthappa has been a busy player in the powerplay, scoring 228 runs from 8 games at a strike rate of 141.61.

#3 Rahul Tripathi vs DJ Bravo

CSK will have to bring their A-game as far as their bowling is concerned, and they will be wary of the dangerous form Rahul Tripathi has been since the start of the season. He registered scores of 16, 7*, and 34 in his last three matches and he has looked in a decent touch, flamboyant, and dangerous. Dwayne Bravo has 14 wickets from 8 games at an economy rate of 8.73.
