On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals played their last game against Mumbai Indians where MI registered a comfortable win by 5 wickets. Jos Buttler managed to score 67 runs for Rajasthan Royals in that game. The two old rivals have locked horns with each other 26 times in IPL so far and it is KKR that has enjoyed the fair share of success against RR with 13 wins.
Ahead of the key clash, we take a look at the player matchups that may very well decide whether KKR will get back to the winnings ways.
#1 Aaron Finch vs Trent Boult
Now, this may seem like a familiar tale where KKR opener, Aaron Finch has a tendency of failing against left-arm quicks. However, Trent Boult, a former Mumbai bowler, has been rather dismal in the recent games as he has not been able to take wicket consistently this season. Finch, on the other hand, has been in a form slump himself. When the two meet, it’s about whoever wins the contest getting the much-needed boost.
#2 Jos Buttler vs Umesh Yadav
Teams have been quite content to see Umesh Yadav has been among the wickets regularly in IPL 2022 so far. This resulted in the quick bagging of just 14 wickets from 9 matches. He may have walked for a single-digit score against RCB, but his intent was still present. With his natural instinct of taking on bowlers, he will look to put Umesh through his pace. The English batter has amassed 566 runs from eight games at an average of 70.75 and a strike rate of 155.06. He has scored three tons in the season so far.
#3 Shreyas Iyer vs Yuzvendra Chahal
Shreyas Iyer has been one of the most consistent performers for KKR in IPL 2022 thus far. He will be up against Purple Cap holder Yuzvendra Chahal (19 wickets from 9 games). Iyer has amassed runs from 9 matches at an average of 36.25 and his contest against Chahal will be that of skill vs skill. Both cricketers are extremely innovative and courageous in their approach, making it a mouth-watering contest to watch out for.
