IPL 2022: Match 63 (LSG vs RR) – 3 Player Battles To Watch Out For

The 63rd match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022 new entrants Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) and Rajasthan Royals (RR) on 15th May at the Brabourne Stadium in Mumbai. Lucknow Super Giants is currently placed at the second position on the points table of this season of the IPL whereas Rajasthan Royals is standing just below them at the third spot on the points table.

LSG has played twelve matches in this season of the IPL and they have managed to win eight matches while Rajasthan Royals also played the same number of games and they have managed to win seven games. LSG played their last game against Gujarat Titans where they lost the game by 62 runs. Deepak Hooda managed to score 26 runs for Lucknow Super Giants in that game.

On the other hand, Rajasthan Royals played their last game against Delhi Capitals and suffered a loss by 8 wickets. Ravichandran Ashwin and Devdutt Padikkal played fiery knocks of 50 runs and 48 runs respectively for Rajasthan Royals in that game. The last time they played against each other this season, Rajasthan Royals beat LSG by 3 runs.

Trent Boult has a fairly decent record against KL Rahul, having dismissed the LSG skipper twice so far. Rahul, despite getting dismissed for a golden duck in the reverse fixture but Boult this season, has stacked up 459 runs from 12 IPL 2022 matches and maintained an average of 45.9. Shami, on the other hand, has been among the wickets, bagging 10 scalps from 11 games.

Avesh Khan’s return will be a boost for LSG, and expect his contest with Jos Buttler to be a cracking one. The seamer has been brilliant in IPL 2022, picking up 16 wickets at an economy of 7.96. Buttler, meanwhile, has had a rather up-and-down in the last few games with a string of some meagre scores. The stylish opener will be keen to get his side off to a good start in the pace versus purist battle.

Riyan Parag, who is known for his fiery knocks in the slog overs will be up against experienced campaigner Jason Holder in the final few overs. Parag has smashed 135 runs in 10 innings at a strike rate of 153.40. His ability to strike the ball cleanly makes him an asset for RR, especially winning the slog overs. Holder has also been crucial for LSG this season, has scalped 13 wickets at a slightly higher economy rate of 9.40. However, his subtle variations are a challenge to deal with at the death.
