In the reverse fixture earlier this season, DC registered a comfortable nine-wicket win with more than nine overs to spare. A win is extremely crucial for both the teams here to boost the playoff chances of both these teams. Jonny Bairstow after being backed by the team despite a bad form has responded with a couple of back-to-back fifties.

With 1005 runs in 22 innings – David Warner is the leading run-scorer against Punjab in the IPL. Punjab will undoubtedly let Rabada have a go at Warner, having already dismissed the Australian five times in T20 cricket. Delhi’s last five opening partnerships anyway read: 0, 5, 0, 16, and 0 with the team struggling to find an able replacement for typhoid-struck Prithvi Shaw.

Probable XI: Jonny Bairstow, Shikhar Dhawan, Bhanuka Raajpaksa, Liam Livingstone, Mayank Agarwal (C), Jitesh Sharma (wk, Harpreet Brar, Rishi Dhawan, Kagiso Rabada, Rahul Chahar, Ashdeep Singh

Likewise, Delhi would also want to dismiss Shikhar Dhawan as he has been doing well for Punjab. To that effect, they might hand an over or two with the new ball to Kuldeep, who has dismissed the southpaw a couple of times. Dhawan averages only 17 against the left-arm spinner, who is currently Delhi’s top wicket-taker this season (18).

Probable XI: Srikar Bharat/Mandeep Singh, David Warner, Mitchell Marsh, Rishabh Pant (C, wk0, Lalit Yadav, Rovman Powell, Axar Patel, Shardul Thakur, Kuldeep Singh, Khaleel Ahmed, Anrich Nortje
