The Indian Premier League (IPL) mega- auction for the upcoming edition of 2022 has started in Chennai and it will be engrossing to see how each of the teams finally shapes up. Here is what the Punjab Kings (PBKS) are up to in the auctions.

Retained Players: Mayank Agarwal (₹12 crores, ₹14 crores to be deducted from overall purse) and Arshdeep Singh (₹4 crores).

During Auction
Day 1
#1 Shikhar Dhawan – ₹8.25 crores
Shikhar Dhawan was the first player to go under the game in IPL 2022 mega auction and he ignited a bidding war between Delhi Capitals and PBKS. Eventually, Punjab Kings won the race to buy the services of Shikhar Dhawan as he is sold for ₹8.25 crores.
#2 Kagiso Rabada – ₹9.25 Crores
During the auction, DC was looking to buy back their players as they went for a bidding war for Kagiso Rabada against Gujarat Titans. And Punjab Kings joined the race in the latter part and they managed to win the battle and eventually signed Rabada for ₹9.25 crores.
#3 Jonny Bairstow – ₹6.75 crores
The England wicket-keeper batter, Jonny Bairstow went under the hammer in IPL 2022 mega-auction and he ignited a bidding war between Punjab Kings and Delhi Capitals. Sunrisers Hyderabad has also decided to join the race and they fought hard with Punjab, bit the latter franchise had the last laugh and bought Bairstow for ₹6.75 crores
#3 Rahul Chahar – ₹5.25 crores
Rahul Chahar was up for the grab and SRH started bidding for him and they were joined by Lucknow Super Giants. Punjab Kings also joined to give Rajasthan a run for their money. Towards the end, Mumbai Indians tried to buy the leggies but eventually, Kings signed Rahul Chahar for ₹5.25 crores.
#4 Shahrukh Khan – ₹9 crores
Shahrukh Khan was one of the most-awaited players in the IPl 2022 mega-auction. CSK and KKR battled hard for him and even KKR joined in. PBKS enter the race to sign their former player back. SRK is hitting the jackpot here as CSK and PBKS are not backing down from the challenge. Shahrukh Khan will now be rejoining PBKS ₹9 Crores.
#5 Harpreet Brar – ₹3.8 crores
Harpreet Brar went under the hammer in IPL 2022 mega-auction and soon, RCB and PBKS had decided to battle it out for the southpaw. In the end, PBKS re-signed him for ₹3.8 crores.
#6 Prabhsimran Singh – ₹60 Lakhs
Punjab Kings was fighting to rope in Prabhsimran Singh and Lucknow Super Giants had challenged them. Eventually, PBKS re-signed Prabhsimran Singh For ₹60 Lakhs.
#7 Jitesh Sharma – ₹20 Lakhs
Jitesh Sharma was bought by PBKS for his base price of ₹20 Lakhs.
#8 Ishan Porel – ₹25 Lakhs
Punjab Kings managed to sign the promising Indian fast bowler, Ishan Porel for ₹25 Lakhs.
