In the 31st match of the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2023 Mumbai Indians (MI) and Punjab Kings (PBKS) will be facing each other at the Wankhede Stadium in Mumbai on Saturday, April 22. After a tough start to their IPL campaign, the Mumbai Indians have managed to get back to their winning ways with three consecutive wins.

While their bowling attack has impressed in patches, it has been MI’s batting unit that has delivered more often than not. As for their opponents Punjab Kings, they have three wins in six matches despite missing a few key players. While Liam Livingstone is fit and running for the Kings, they would want the rest of their batting unit to fire in unison.

These two teams have met each other in a total of 29 clashes so far, where Punjab Kings won 14 games while Mumbai Indians won 15 matches. With both teams looking for their fourth win of the season, a cracking game beckons at the Wankhede stadium.

MI will not be looking to make any changes unless Jofra Archer gets fit and is ready to return to action. One of Jason Behrendorff and Riley Meredith could make a way in that case. Mumbai’s experienced batters will be eyeing to make the most of their form. For Rohit, this could be an uphill task against a bowling line-up that has often troubled him in past. Since 2019, he has been dismissed 21 times for this, and the likes of Arshdeep, Curran, Chahar, and Harpreet Brar could be challenges.

Probable XI: Rohit Sharma, Ishan Kishan, Suryakumar Yadav, Cameron Green, Tilak Varma, Tim David, Arjun Tendulkar, Nehal Wadhera, Hrithik Shokeen, Piyush Chawla, Jason Behrendoff

With spinners Rahul Chahar and Harpreet Brar doing well, one possible change for PBKS will be Nathan Ellis making way for Kagiso Rabada. There is an outside chance of Shikhar Dhawan coming in as an impact player, to bat. Rabada could find his way back into the XI, particularly since his good match-up against the likes of Rohit Sharma and Suryakumar Yadav. He has dismissed the former twice in 26 balls and the latter thrice in 40 balls.

Probable XI: Atharva Taide, Prabhsimran Singh, Matthew Short, Liam Livingstone, Harpreet Singh Bhatia, Sam Curran, Jitesh Sharma, Shahrukh Khan, Harpreet Brar, Nathan Ellis/Kagiso Rabada, Arshdeep Singh, Rahul Chahar
