However, while supporting the home team, fans didn’t disappoint the CSK team as they supported the away team as well and the enthusiasm was seen in cheering for the visiting captain Gaikwad during the toss more than for their home team captain Pat Cummins as well. Cummins tossed the coin and won the toss, electing to bowl first. Meanwhile, when CSK skipper Ruturaj Gaikwad stepped forward to have a chat with Mbangwa during the toss, the noise level in the Stadium echoed and increased until the conversation was over. The cheer was so intense that the presenter momentarily halted, struggling to hear what Gaikwad said there as well.

The incident garnered a lot of attention on social media, with users discussing it fervently there as well.

During the toss, Pat Cummins said as quoted by Cricbuzz, “We’ll bowl first. Looks like a good wicket and should stay the same for the whole match. We’ve got a great squad. Mayank Agarwal is unwell, he’s replaced by Nitish Reddy. Natarajan is back as well. Last time, there were 500 runs scored, this looks like a good wicket as well.”

Ruturaj Gaikwad said, “It’s going pretty well, the group is responding well. Nothing much changes for me, obviously this is a new challenge, but I’m feeling good. Pathirana has a niggle – three changes for us, Moeen Ali, Theekshana and Mukesh Chowdhary come in. The bowlers are ready to go and so are the youngsters.”
