The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 Player Auction List has been officially released, setting the stage for an exciting auction scheduled to take place on November 24 and 25 in Jeddah, Saudi Arabia. This year’s auction features 574 players vying for a spot in the league, with teams carefully strategizing to fill their remaining 204 slots, including 70 for overseas players.
Initially, 1,574 players had registered, comprising 1,165 Indians and 409 overseas players. The list included 320 capped players, 1,224 uncapped players, and 30 from Associate Nations. After careful evaluation, the governing body trimmed the pool to 574 players—366 Indians, 208 overseas players, and three from Associate Nations. Notably, 318 Indian uncapped players and 12 uncapped overseas players will also go under the hammer, adding depth to the talent pool.
The marquee set for IPL 2025 boasts 12 elite players, split into two groups. The list includes stars like Jos Buttler, Shreyas Iyer, Rishabh Pant, Kagiso Rabada, and Arshdeep Singh, alongside Yuzvendra Chahal, Liam Livingstone, David Miller, KL Rahul, Mohammed Shami, and Mohammed Siraj. Their inclusion is expected to ignite intense bidding wars.

However, notable absentees Jofra Archer and Cameron Green have raised eyebrows, as both were anticipated to be among the top picks. Among the 574 players, James Anderson (42) stands out as the oldest, while 13-year-old Vaibhav Suryavanshi is the youngest, both hoping to secure their maiden IPL contracts.

Team dynamics ahead of the auction are intriguing. Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals have retained the most players (six each) and have no Right to Match (RTM) cards. In contrast, Punjab Kings have retained only two uncapped players and hold the most RTMs (four).
