IPL 2025 Auction: Delhi Capitals (DC) Buy Mitchell Starc For 11.75 Crore

The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction has taken place on November 24 and 25, 2024 at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The two-day mega auction – which takes place once every three years – will see some renowned players go under the hammer as well, including Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler and to name a few.

Delhi Capitals (DC) dropped a plenty of catches

The 10 IPL franchises will take part in the auction, where a total of 577 players enter the bidding process as well. Among them, 367 will be Indian, while 210 are overseas as well. Moreover, each IPL team must have at least 18 players in their roster at the end of the auction as well.

Here are the players Delhi Capitals retained before the mega auction.

DC: 73 corere. Remaining slots – 21, Overseas – 7

During Auction

Mitchell Starc: Mitch Starc entered the auction with 2 crores. MI started the bidding for Starc and KKR too joined. The bid has touched 6 crore and DC joined in.

KKR soon escalated the bid up to 9 crore but DC wanted to have the pacer and it crossed 10 crore soon. While it was almost sure for RCB, DC jumped back in at the last moment. And, he sold to DC for 11.75 crore.

Jake Fraser-McGurk: Jake Fraser-McGurk set his base price at 2 crore and DC wanted him back. However, PBKS started competing and took it up to 2.2 crore as well. Soon, LSG joined and both LSG and PBKS battled it out for him as well. However, all their bids went in vain as DC used their RTM to get JFM back as well.

Harry Brook: England star Harry Brook entered at 2 crore. CSK opened the bidding for him with PBKS jumped in and competed with CSK as well. CSK came back in at 4.8 crore. PBKS too escalated it up to 5 crore as well. However, at the end, he was sold to DC for 6.25 crore.

KL Rahul: He had a base price of INR 2 crore. KKR came in with RCB at INR 2.20 crore as well and soon it went past the INR 10 crore mark soon. KKR were at INR 10.75 crore, when RCB backed out.

Delhi Capitals came in at INR 11 crore. CSK too have entered the bid at INR 12.25 crore. However, KL Rahul was sold to Delhi Capitals for INR 14 crore at the end.

T Natarajan: The Indian pace bowler T Natarajan entered the bid at his base price of 2 crore. And, SRH opened the bidding for him as well alongside RCB. SRH took it up to 4 crore and then RCB came back in at 4.2 crore. Soon, DC joined the bidding and RCB escalated the bid up to 7 crores. DC came back in at 7.25 crore and eventually bought him for 10.75 crore.

Karun Nair: He is uncapped player now and he had a base price of INR 30 lakh as well. Delhi Capitals raised their bid alongside RCB. Nair was the highest run-scorer in the most recent Maharaja T20 league as well and DC bought him for 50 lakh.

Sameer Rizvi: The allrounder has a base price of INR 30 lakh. And, after a bid with CSK, DC bought him at 95 lakh as well.

Ashutosh Sharma: The aggressive batter Ahustosh Sharma had a base price of 30 lakh. RCB opened the bid and RR joined in. DC came in
at 95 lakh and the bids quickly crossed the 1 crore mark. PBKS too joined and the bids went past the 3 crore mark. Punjab also raised the bid to 3.60 crore and eventually bought him for INR 3.80 crore.

Mohit Sharma: The ‘uncapped’ Mohit Sharma went with the bid at 50 lakh. GT opened the bidding for him and DC too entered the fray as well. And, DC eventually bought him at 2.2 crore as well.

Faf du Plessis: Faf du Plessis came with a base price of 2 crore. DC bid for him and he was sold to DC for his base price of 2 crore as well.

Mukesh Kumar: He had a base price of 2 crore. CSK and PBKS came in. The bids crossed the 4 crore mark soon. Both franchises raised the bid and it reached 6.50 crore as well.

While there were RTM option available and Delhi are exercising it, Punjab hiked their bid to 8 crore. However, DC used RTM and he stays with Delhi Capitals for INR 8 crore as well.

Darshan Nalkande: DC were the only bidders for him and got him at base price INR 30 lakh.

Vipraj Nigam: He was sold to DC for 50 lakh.

Dushmantha Chameera: Sold to DC for 75 lakh.

Donnovan Ferreira: Sold to DC for 75 lakh.

Madhav Tiwari: He entered with 30 lakh and MI opened the bidding, but DC took it up to 40 lakh and bought him.

Tripurana Vijay: In at 30 lakh he was sold to DC.

Ajay Mandal: Sold to DC for his base price of 30 lakh.

Manvanth Kumar: Was sold to DC for 30 lakh
