The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction has taken place on November 24 and 25, 2024 at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The two-day mega auction – which takes place once every three years – will see some renowned players go under the hammer as well, including Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler and to name a few.
The 10 IPL franchises will take part in the auction, where a total of 577 players enter the bidding process as well. Among them, 367 will be Indian, while 210 are overseas as well. Moreover, each IPL team must have at least 18 players in their roster at the end of the auction as well.
Here are the players Lucknow Super Giants retained before the mega auction.
Before Auction
Retained Players: Nicholas Pooran, Ravi Bishnoi, Mayank Yadav, Mohsin Khan, Ayush Badoni
LSG: 69 crore – Remaining slots – 20, Overseas – 7
During Auction
Rishabh Pant: LSG made the first move for Pant. Soon RCB jumped in and tussled with LSG as well. The bid soon went past 10 crores and LSG bid for 10.25 crore. Moreover, SRH also escalated it to 17 crore. LSG returned with 17.25. The battle continued for Pant in Jeddah as they went past 20 crore. And, LSG kept competing with SRH as well. While DC tried to use RTM, LSG offered 27 crore and acquired his service.
Aiden Markram: South Africa allrounder and captain Aiden Markram entered at 2 crore base price. LSG joined lately and bought him.
David Miller: Aggressive South Africa batter David Miller came with a base price of INR 1.5 crore. He played for Gujarat Titans last season and they were the first to bid for him. RCB also bid for him. They raised it to INR 5 crore before Delhi Capitals joined. RCB too came up at INR 7.25 crore but LSG sealed the deal for INR 7.50 crore.
Mitch Marsh: Star Aussie allrounder Mitch Marsh came in at 2 crore. SRH opened the bidding for Marsh alongside LSG as well. LSG raised the bid to 3 crore whereas SRH came back in at 3.2 crore. However, LSG came in with 3.4 crore and acquired his service.
