The Indian Premier League (IPL) 2025 mega auction has taken place on November 24 and 25, 2024 at Jeddah in Saudi Arabia. The two-day mega auction – which takes place once every three years – will see some renowned players go under the hammer as well, including Rishabh Pant, Mitchell Starc, KL Rahul, Jos Buttler and to name a few.
The 10 IPL franchises will take part in the auction, where a total of 577 players enter the bidding process as well. Among them, 367 will be Indian, while 210 are overseas as well. Moreover, each IPL team must have at least 18 players in their roster at the end of the auction as well.
Here are the players Sunrisers Hyderabad retained before the mega auction.
Before Auction
Retained Players: Pat Cummins, Abhishek Sharma, Nitish Kumar Reddy, Heinrich Klaasen, Travis Head
SRH: 45 crore – Remaining Slots – 20, Overseas 5
During Auction
Mohammed Shami: KKR bid for Shami whose base price was INR 2 crore. CSK come in at INR 2.20 crore and the two teams went for the fast bowler. KKR bid for INR 8.25 crore as well whereas Lucknow Super Giants have joined in with INR 8.50 crore. However, SRH came in with INR 10 crore and bought him.
Harshal Patel: Allrounder Harshal Patel went in the bids at the base price of 2 crore. However, SRH made the first move for Harshal. GT joined the bidding for Harshal as well and the bid went to 3 crore. The bid has touched 6 crore and SRH returned at 6.25 crore. While PBKS used their RTM, SRH hiked the price up to 8 crore and bought him as well.
Adam Zampa: He had a base price of INR 2 crore. And, SRH joined in at the base price. Rajasthan Royals also joined but SRH came back at INR 2.40 crore and picked him up for INR 2.40 crore only.
