The highly anticipated IPL 2025 clash between Punjab Kings (PBKS) and Delhi Capitals (DC) at the picturesque Himachal Pradesh Cricket Association Stadium in Dharamsala came to an abrupt and dramatic halt during the first innings, under circumstances far graver than just rain. Initially, weather played spoilsport as rain delayed the start of the 58th match of the season by an hour.

But once play resumed, PBKS openers Prabhsimran Singh and young Priyansh Arya made the wait worthwhile. The duo launched a blistering assault on the DC bowling attack, stitching together a 122-run stand in just 10.1 overs. Arya dazzled with his fearless strokeplay, while Prabhsimran played the perfect foil in what looked like a momentum-defining partnership.

However, just moments after Arya’s dismissal, an eerie silence swept over the stadium. One of the floodlights abruptly went out, followed by two more plunging sections of the ground into darkness. The umpires immediately called for a halt in play, and players exited the field. But it wasn’t just a technical issue—it soon became clear that the situation was far more serious.

Reports confirmed that Pakistan had launched a drone attack in the Pathankot region of Jammu and Kashmir, barely 80 kilometers from Dharamsala. As a precautionary measure, security forces promptly evacuated spectators from the stands, and the match was officially called off due to the escalating national security concern.
