Nortje, who was bought by the Knight Riders at his base price of ₹20 lakh, is the third KKR fast bowler ruled out of this year’s tournament following the withdrawal of the Indian pair of Shivam Mavi and Kamlesh Nagarkoti. He came to the spotlight during last year’s Mzansi Super League, when he claimed eight wickets from three games at an economy of 6.91. His ability to bowl at high pace caught the eye of KKR despite the 25-year-old being sidelined during the IPL auction with an ankle injury.
