The Indian Premier League (IPL) has introduced a ‘new member’ to the tournament’s broadcast family — a robotic camera dog. Colored in brown fur-like material with a camera for the face, the robot ran can run, jump and catch what is described as the ‘pet vision’ for cricket matches.

In a video uploaded on the league’s official social media channel, the robot can be seen interacting with players from Mumbai Indians and Delhi Capitals, who are playing a match on Sunday evening at the Arun Jaitley Stadium in New Delhi. While MI captain Hardik Pandya seemed intrigued to see it, DC skipper Axar Patel was confused and Mumbai’s Reece Topley even got scared when it stood up.

New Zealand-based broadcaster Danny Morrison introduced the robot and had a couple of wholesome moments with it, like prompting it to make a heart with its robotic paws and competing in a race. IPL asked internet fans to help them name it.

Our newest member of the IPL broadcast team,” Danny Morrison said introducing the dog. “It can walk, it can run, it can greet but most importantly, this is pet vision, which gives a whole new energy, a whole new dynamic to the broadcast. This fellow is absolutely sensational. And it stands on its hind legs and shows the love pose. As I said, be wary, don’t get too close! … We need your help in [picking] a name for it. Stay tuned to the IPL broadcast and you can be a part of the naming of this,” he added.
