The Indian cricket team locked horns with the Ireland team for the first T20I of the 2-match series in Dublin on Wednesday and after winning the toss, the Irish skipper Gary Wilson once again elected to bowl, reasoning that in this venue its difficult for the teams to defend the total. However, the Indian scoreline is suggesting that Wilson’s decision became all wrong as KL Rahul (70), who opened the innings with skipper Virat Kohli, built a partnership of more than 100 runs for the second wicket with Suresh Raina (69).

Rahul and Raina smashed almost all the Irish bowlers but the 11th over of Boyd Rankin, became a standout one as Rahul smashed two sixes in the over on first and fourth ball of the over.

On the first ball, KL smashed just over fine leg, not very convincing, but enough behind that pull for the batsman to get to his fifty. Short on middle, and Rahul turns and then smashed it behind square. The fine leg fielder did stick his hand out, and the ball almost stuck in his palm.

While on the fourth ball, Rankin rolled his fingers over the ball, but Rahul spots that early. Half-tracker outside off and Rahul creams it over cover. What bat speed! We need the third umpire for this one, and hey, it’s over the boundary.
