Team India have rested Virat Kohli, Rohit Sharma, and Jasprit Bumrah once again as the senior selection committee named a 16-member squad for the ODI series against West Indies from July 22. Shikhar Dhawan has been appointed as the captain of the ODI squad while Ravindra Jadeja has been named the vice-captain of the squad as well.

India will play a three-match ODI series from July 22 to July 27 in Trinidad, 5 days after the completion of the white-ball series against England, slated from July 7 to 17 as well. However, due to the packed schedule, India could not select all their key players. However, the Test regulars, including Virat Kohli, Rishabh Pant and Jasprit Bumrah, will not be part of the 1st T20I against England, starting July 7. And, former India fast bowler Irfan Pathan took to social media to take a dig at the selection policy, claiming that players won’t return to form if they are being rested.

“No one comes back to form while resting” Pathan said in a tweet even as fans were questioning the absence of star players for the ODI series.

However, Irfan Pathan’s comments came even as Virat Kohli is struggling for form across all formats of the game, he has been given the rest. He had a poor Indian Premier League season, struggled to make a significant impact in the Birmingham Test as well as he got out for 11 and 20 across the 2 innings as India slipped to a 7-wicket defeat as well.
