Former England seamer and popular commentator Isa Guha has revealed her deep-rooted connection with the Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR), proudly admitting she has been a long-time supporter of the franchise in the Indian Premier League (IPL). Currently on holiday in Kolkata with her father, Guha spoke about her Bengali heritage during a heartwarming interaction with the Knight Riders, captured in a video shared by the franchise on Instagram.

Guha, known for her vibrant presence in cricket broadcasting, said her Kolkata connection has always nudged her towards supporting KKR. “I think that’s a fair point. I have always supported KKR from afar. Last year was very, very special,” Guha shared with a wide smile.

During the interaction, she also humorously mentioned that she had been waiting for a KKR jersey for a long time — a wish the franchise finally fulfilled by gifting her one on the spot. Guha was visibly thrilled, especially after seeing the newly inaugurated ‘Jhulan Goswami Stand’ at the iconic Eden Gardens, a tribute to one of India’s greatest cricketers, whom she deeply admires.
Fully immersed in the city’s rich culture, Guha expressed her joy at reconnecting with her roots.

Speaking in Bengali, she said, “Ami aktu aktu porte pari. Ami onek bhujte pari,” meaning she can read a little and understand a lot. “I’m here on holiday with my father,” she explained. “This is where he grew up, watching matches back in the 1960s, when England would tour India. He even saw legends like Pankaj Roy. It’s very emotional to return.”
Guha fondly recalled her childhood visits to Kolkata, meeting her grandparents, and noted that while they are no longer around, much of her family remains in the city.
