Indian wicketkeeper-batter Ishan Kishan is making the most of his maiden County Championship stint in England, not just with the bat but also with some entertaining antics on the field. A video featuring the 25-year-old has gone viral, where he can be seen mimicking the iconic bowling action of Harbhajan Singh during a match between Nottinghamshire and Somerset.

Kishan, playing his debut season for Nottinghamshire, surprised fans and teammates alike when he rolled his arm over for a cheeky over. Stepping in as a part-time spinner, Kishan bowled his first delivery over the wicket, emulating Harbhajan’s famous over-the-head bowling action. His delivery was to Somerset’s Tom Kohler-Cadmore, who was well set on 146.

After starting with off-spin, Kishan mixed things up by switching to around-the-wicket and delivered three well-pitched leg-spinners to complete his over. Though he didn’t pick up a wicket, he conceded just a single run and left the crowd smiling with his light-hearted nod to Harbhajan Singh.

But Kishan hasn’t only entertained with the ball. In just two games, the left-handed batter has already made his presence felt with the bat for Nottinghamshire. He’s scored two fifties in as many games, underlining his red-ball credentials in English conditions. In the drawn match against Somerset, Kishan contributed a valuable 77 off 128 balls, forming a vital partnership with centurion Jack Haynes and helping his side post a massive total of 509.

Kishan’s domestic first-class record has always hinted at his potential. Representing Jharkhand since the age of 15, he has amassed 3,447 runs in 58 matches at an average of 37.87, including 8 centuries and a highest score of 273.
He made his Test debut for India against the West Indies in 2023 and has played two matches, scoring 78 runs with an impressive average of 78.00. As he continues to develop his red-ball game, Kishan’s versatility and spirit make him a fan favorite both in India and abroad.
