Sunrisers Hyderabad, led by Ishan Kishan, registered their first win of IPL 2026 in emphatic fashion, defeating Kolkata Knight Riders by 65 runs at Eden Gardens. It was a complete team performance from SRH, who posted a daunting total of 226 before bundling out KKR for just 161 in a one-sided contest.

The foundation of SRH’s big total was laid by their aggressive opening pair, Travis Head and Abhishek Sharma. The duo once again delivered a fiery start, scoring 46 and 48 respectively, and putting the KKR bowlers under early pressure.

Heinrich Klaasen then took charge in the middle overs, anchoring the innings with a composed 52, while Nitish Kumar Reddy chipped in with a valuable 31 to ensure a strong finish. Despite Blessing Muzarabani’s impressive four-wicket haul, KKR struggled to contain the flow of runs.

Reflecting on the performance, Ishan Kishan praised his team’s collective effort. “I was happy with everyone putting in the effort. Head and Abhishek made our job easier. KKR’s chase began on a promising note, with Finn Allen smashing 24 runs in the first over. However, his early dismissal shifted momentum back in SRH’s favour. Wickets continued to fall at regular intervals, with Angkrish Raghuvanshi’s 52 being the only notable resistance.

Ishan Kishan also credited his bowlers for executing plans effectively. “Our focus was to take wickets, and the bowlers delivered at the right moments,” he noted. He reserved special praise for Shivang and Harsh Dubey for their impact spells.

As the innings progressed, SRH tightened their grip. Nitish Kumar Reddy and Eshan Malinga struck crucial blows, while Jaydev Unadkat cleaned up the tail with a three-wicket haul, sealing a dominant victory. While pleased with the win, Ishan Kishan admitted there’s room for improvement, particularly in fielding. “We still need to improve in that area. Even 10-15 runs can make a big difference,” he concluded.
