Sunrisers Hyderabad batter Ishan Kishan delivered a breathtaking display of power-hitting against Punjab Kings in their IPL 2026 clash at the Rajiv Gandhi International Stadium on May 6. The left-hander looked in complete control, shifting gears effortlessly and taking the game away from the opposition with a stunning counterattack.

Kishan’s most destructive phase came in the 14th over, where he took on Vijaykumar Vyshak with remarkable confidence. After reading a slower delivery early, he adjusted quickly and pulled it over deep backward square leg for a six. What followed was even more emphatic — two consecutive deliveries in the slot were dispatched cleanly over long-on, completing a hat-trick of sixes and bringing up his half-century in just 28 balls.

This knock further strengthened Kishan’s position among the leading run-scorers this season. With over 400 runs in 11 innings, he has been one of SRH’s most consistent performers, registering four half-centuries so far. His standout innings remains a blistering 91 off 44 balls earlier in the tournament, underlining his impact at the top of the order. The franchise’s decision to retain him for INR 11.25 crore is clearly paying dividends.

SRH’s dominance in the match was built on a strong foundation laid by their openers. Abhishek Sharma and Travis Head provided a flying start, scoring 35 off 13 and 38 off 19, respectively. Their aggressive approach ensured Hyderabad seized early momentum, allowing Kishan to build on that platform with freedom.

By the 16-over mark, SRH had raced to 182/3, with Heinrich Klaasen and Nitish Kumar Reddy continuing the charge. Despite the onslaught, Yuzvendra Chahal stood out for Punjab Kings with disciplined bowling, finishing his spell with figures of 1/32.

Having lost to Punjab earlier in the season in a high-scoring chase, SRH entered this contest with added motivation. With both teams closely matched on points, this performance not only strengthened Hyderabad’s position in the standings but also served as a statement of intent in the race for the playoffs.
