Team India player Ishan Kishan broke his silence amid the speculation of his absence from the Indian squad. However, he shared a video where he can be seen practising before the squads were announced for the two-match Tests against England coming up later this month.

Despite being in the squad for the white-ball leg of India’s tour of South Africa, Ishan Kishan did not feature in a single game and asked for a break ahead of the two Tests against South Africa as well citing personal reasons. Meanwhile, ahead of the first T20I against Afghanistan, India head coach Rahul Dravid opined on the rumours regarding any disciplinary issues, he said,” Absolutely not. Ishan Kishan was not available for selection. Ishan had requested for a break in South Africa which we agreed to, and supported that.”

However, Ishan Kishan last played for India when they took on Australia in the five-match T20I series at home. Despite only featuring in the first three games, he did well where he scored consecutive half-centuries in the first two T20Is as well. His last Test came against the West Indies at Port of Spain in July as well and featured in the World Cup where his last game against Afghanistan in Delhi.

With the likes of Shubman Gill and Yashasvi Jaiswal behind for a spot at the top of the batting order, while the senior stars like Virat Kohli and Rohit Sharma featuring in the T20I games before the World Cup and Jitesh Sharma’s rise in the shortest format, Ishan Kishan’s position in the team still remains uncertain.

Team India will take on Afghanistan in the second T20I playing at Indore where the Indian team will try to seal the series ahead of the T20 World Cup.
