Kishan featured in all nine matches under the captaincy of Suryakumar Yadav and amassed an impressive 317 runs, including three crucial half-centuries. One of his standout knocks came in the high-voltage clash against Pakistan cricket team, where he smashed 77 off 40 balls. His aggressive innings helped India dominate the contest and earned him the Player of the Match award.

He also made a valuable contribution in the final against the New Zealand national cricket team at the iconic Narendra Modi Stadium. Batting with confidence under pressure, Kishan added a quickfire 54 off just 25 deliveries, helping India post a massive total that ultimately set up their emphatic victory.

Following the historic triumph, Kishan returned to his hometown in Patna on Tuesday, where he received a grand welcome from fans and well-wishers. The reception reflected the pride the city felt in one of its most successful sporting icons.

Speaking about India’s memorable World Cup victory after arriving in Patna, Ishan Kishan highlighted how special the achievement was for the entire nation. “Our team won; obviously, it is a very good thing, not only for us but also for the whole nation. We hope to continue playing cricket like this and keep winning,” he said.

Kishan also spoke about inspiring young cricketers through his journey. His path back into the national side was not without challenges. In 2024, he was omitted from the central contracts list due to concerns about his commitment to domestic cricket. However, his performances in domestic tournaments and the T20 World Cup proved his determination to bounce back stronger.

“It feels great because I believe the better I perform, the more motivation it will be for the young kids here who want to grow. I always try to ensure as many players as possible emerge from every corner. Now that we’ve played the World Cup, it shows that with hard work, you can succeed from anywhere,” he added.

“I asked my grandson, Ishan Kishan, ‘Will I be alive until your wedding?’ and he replied, ‘I’ll get married next year. You’ll have to stay alive until I have my baby. He will play in your lap’,” Pandey said, sharing the heartwarming exchange.
